Ye-Eun Choi’s musical journey began in Seoul, where she discovered her passion for the violin at age six. After intensive studies in Korea, she moved to Germany to study under renowned pedagogue Ana Chumachenco. Her breakthrough came in 2007, performing Bach’s Double Concerto with Anne-Sophie Mutter, marking the start of her brilliant career on the international classical stage.
Recognized as one of the most sought-after soloists of her generation, Choi has collaborated with distinguished conductors like Riccardo Muti, Mariss Jansons, and Yannick Nézet-Séguin, and performed with leading orchestras including the New York Philharmonic, Orchestre National de France, NDR Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic and Berlin Radio Symphony. She is also a celebrated chamber musician at prestigious festivals such as the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, Dresden Music Festival, Verbier Festival and many more, as well as frequently performing with Anne-Sophie Mutter and other top artists.
Her versatility extends to contemporary music, having worked closely with composers such as Krzysztof Penderecki, Unsuk Chin, and Jörg Widmann. Her debut album with Deutsche Grammophon, featuring works by Mendelssohn, Schubert, and Prokofiev, has been highly acclaimed.
In 2023, Choi became a professor at the University of Music and Dance Cologne, where she shares her expertise and passion with the next generation of musicians.
